Program
Elevation gain: + 650m and - 650 m for the via ferrata, then + 300 m for the ascent to the refuge.
Duration: Approximately 7 hours
Meet in Bourg Saint Maurice at the Funicular at 9am. You can park your car in the car park, which is free in summer.
If there are 5 of you, you can car pool to go up to Val d'Isère and the Guide will take part of the group in his car.
For those with long journeys you can stay in a hotel in Bourg Saint Maurice before and after the activities.
Then it's off to the Roc de Tovière Via Ferrata, which overlooks the Tignes reservoir lake, with the Dôme de la Sache (3,588 m) and Mont Pourri (3,779 m) glaciers as its backdrop. The Via Ferrata is made up of several increasingly difficult sections. On the Roc de Tovière wall, if you're comfortable, we can do the whole via, but if not, we won't do all the sections, and then climb quietly to the Refuge de Prariond , which will be our base camp. It's a pleasant refuge that's just been renovated, right in the heart of the Vanoise National Park at an altitude of 2,300 metres, with marmots, ibexes and chamois surrounding us in this superb valley.
Elevation gain: +1200 m and - 1200m
Duration: around 7 to 8 hours
We set off early for our first day of mountaineering on the glacier at the sources of the Isère. The climb is fairly fast to reach the glacier, then the progress on the glacier is easy to reach the col between the Petite and Grande Aiguille Rousse, which we climb via the Voie Normale. We'll reach the summit of the Grande Aiguille Rousse above the North Face and enjoy a superb view of Grand-Paradis (4,061 m) before descending to the glacier where we'll do some rope work and a snow and ice school. We'll do a short traverse to reach a small rocky ridge that leads to the Col de la Lose or to some superb lakes, depending on your mood and fitness level. There's a beautiful descent through the mountain pastures to the refuge.
Elevation gain: +1450 and -1450 m
Duration: approximately 7 to 8 hours
We'll set off at night in the direction of the Galise and the Glacier de Bassagne. Depending on your level of fitness, we'll climb some steep sections before reaching the Glacier de Bassagne and then the summit of the Galise. We'll then head back down to the Prariond refuge to collect our belongings and have a drink in the refuge!
We'll finish the descent by heading down the Malpassset gorges to Pont Saint Charles, where we'll return to our cars.
At the end of the activities, you can go home from 6 p.m. or stay a few days in the hotel of your choice to enjoy these beautiful mountains!
See you soon for more adventures.
